Patent Strategies

On one hand, Shini has engaged Huanan Patent & Trademark Office to handle its patent affairs, defend patent property and to give quick response to infringements; on the other hand, Shini also fosters the personnel to apply for utility patents and patents for invention, and the focus is shifted from exterior design patents to utility and invention patents. In recent five years, the amount of utility patents increased from 1 in 2005 to 12 in 2009, at the same time Shini didnt neglect the work of applying for exterior design patents whose quantity reached 59 in 2008.

Patent Rewards

CPI Bonus Plan is worked out at the end of 2008 that patents are closely connected with bonus. By means of various measures, Shini encourages and supports staff to create inventions. In order to exploit initiative of the technical staff, the bonus for each patent of invention, utility and exterior design is 10,000 RMB, 2,000 RMB and 300 RMB respectively.

• To strength the bond with patent office, Huanan Patent & Trademark Office is entrusted to train the IPR personnel for the purpose of improving their ability to perform and manage IPR, and to protect the patent. The personnel also learn how to acquire skills of patent knowledge contriving for patent affairs

In November 2008, 5 personnel were designated to attend training about patent knowledge organized by Dongguan Science & Technology Bureau; in August 2009, Huanan Patent & Trademark Office is invited to conduct training regarding patent retrieval, declaration and infringement; in May 2010, certain personnel were selected to join the training of patent management held by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. By trainings the R&D capability and patent development rate of technical department are improved.
