Successful Application of ST5 Robots in BYD

BYD Company Limited was founded in 1995, and is a high-tech private enterprise which listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. At present, BYD has built nine production bases in Guangdong, Beijing, Shaanxi, Shanghai and so on across the country with a total area of nearly seven million square meters. In addition, it has subsidiaries and offices in the United States, Europe, Japan, Korea, India, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The total number of employees is about 130 thousand now.

BYD has now two industries: IT and Automobile. In 2003, BYD entered the field of manufacturing and sales of automobiles after the acquisition of Tsinchuan Automobile Co., Ltd and commenced the development of national self-brand vehicles. Up to now, BYD has built up four automotive industry bases in Xian, Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai.

As the economy recovering in December, 2009, BYD autos are in short supply. The company can not enhance the production efficiency only by labor work, and it has a will to replace labor work by robots. As a result, our Five Axes Servo Driven Robots were applied in Shenzhen BYD and Xian BYD for trials.

This series of robot has European style and compact appearance with steady moves and easy operation. There are four models: ST5-550-1000D, ST5-700-1400D, ST5-900-1600D and ST5-1100-1800D available for injection molding machines with clamping force of 100T, 200T, 300T and below 450T. It is applied for rapid and precise removal of products and nozzles from the mould to required locations; it can also carry on plug-in work when equipped with rotating cylinders. Additionally, the customer may choose whether one arm works or not, which is suitable for 2-plate mould, 3-plate mould and hot-runner mould.
