To interview Shini employee for the first time makes me a little nervous but the feeling fades out as conversation strikes up and proceeds. The interviewee of this time is a senior worker who spent nearly 14 years in Shini. Along with easy-going behaviors, Mrs Yifen Li makes me being at ease while talking and communicating as she did in daily work and that is why junior staff regards her as elder sister.

Starting Career in Shini with Confidence

14 years ago, Mrs Li become one of employees in Shini Dongguan and this is where she belongs, she said. The first impression at stepping in Shini is that the working environment is favorable and clean with little pollution, according to Mrs Li. And what impresses her most is the kindness of leadership, who often shows great care for employees’ lives and welfares. And I find out that Mrs Li shows much gratitude for management level staff and she always mentions that Chairman I-Fun Wu is a very kind person. In such a harmonious and favorable environment, I settle down here as my home and lead a living for 14 years”, she says.

Get Harvest in Shini

The place where I spot Mrs Li is workshop and at that time she is caught pushing a tricycle full of components. Most of employees in assembly workshop are males and undoubtedly many operations require physical work. And to my surprise, Mrs Li often fares much work as other male colleagues do. Actually I believe I can make it like others do and during these work I could learn a lot”, she tells me. I admire her efforts and willingness to finish tasks that sometimes others are reluctant to complete. I am happy working here and simply this is my job”, she adds.

What impresses me most is her word that you will never know what life is like unless you take to it. This word teaches me the fact that to throw yourself into practice is the best way to test how we view this world. Judging from reviews from other staff, Mrs Li is a person who can not tolerate wastes. And she is responsible for handling with rejects at present. Therefore one of priorities of Mrs Li routine is to think about how to make maximum good use of accessories and to reduce resources wastes. Sometimes I am kind of stubborn person and I will insist on what I think is right and just finish it”, she says.

Other female workers get along well with Mrs Li because they all respect her and take her as a good veteran. For past 14 years, persons in Shini, no matter they are a green hand or experienced senior, all of them praise Mrs Li as a diligent worker, who always believe in faith that no pain, no gain.

Live and Learn

No other person is more familiar with factory surrounding than Mrs Li thanks to 14 years of work in Shini and she is also experienced in products. For any work without enough manpower, Mrs Li will be first to be initiative to offer hands. Despite her age of nearly 50, Mrs Li is going to learn how to manipulate computer and learn new things. To keep an active mind to accept new things is Mrs Li another big deal in life. And she tells me that nowadays some youths are impatient and are not willing not start from scratch. I see some young people stop learning before getting essence of technology and they just count on poor experiences”, she comments. Some people consider handling with rejects as a troublesome job and it is difficult to process a wide range of products and to recycle them. But for Mrs Li, she seldom complains her work and she believes that nothing is difficult if you put your heart into it.

To be a Responsible Staff

Mrs Li is such a responsible person that sometimes she assumes the role as supervisor to correct wrongdoings like chatting at work. She knows that without leaders in a team, the order among members may go out of right track so it is imperative to bring back normal state and complete tasks by working together.

Be Thankful and Grateful

Working in workshops in summer is anything but agreeable and to relieve the high temperature of weather, employees will receive herbal teas everyday; also temperature in dormitory is high thus every single room has been equipped with air conditioner. Company is considerate for our lives so we should be grateful”, says Mrs Li. Since there are peak season and slack season in production, overtime working would be less in slack period and many can not get as many pays as they do in peak times. Mrs Li is very clear about this trend and she indicates it is incorrect to blame company.

Everything is quite simple from the point of Mrs Li’s view. According to her words, she is just doing things to pay for company’s consideration toward her in return. As for her, loyalty to position and company is the top concern. Therefore, she has been taking Shini as her home and leading a passionate living for 14 years. Without Shini, she says life would not so be happy as what she is getting through now.
