My Understanding About R&D Supervisors

Supervisor takes up the manager role in a Corporation where he or she usually acts as the communicational bridge between leaders and laborers. Different positions require different responsibilities for supervisors. For example, production supervisor who implements various productive rules is in charge of arranging tasks, distributing staff, testing devices, maintaining and repairing, and executing safe production. Sales supervisor is responsible for contacting with customers for information exchange, dealing with complaints and suggestions, and providing timely service in accordance with the requirements of customers. Purchasing supervisor is chief charger in hunting for suppliers regarding to new product and material, collecting data, bargaining with suppliers to reduce cost and get sensitive to marketing dynamics to cut down budgets.

As the R&D Supervisor of Automatic Business Department, I need to figure out what my responsibility is:

Work out a programme on new products based on overall planning and production situation.
Confirm development items through collecting and analyze information about product, as well as draft regulations and parameters of products.
Establish standard for new product according to industry norms and market promotion.
Determine product design and working distribution based on development schedule.
Organize the evaluation and verification for product development results.
Confirm project of new product, blueprint, and sample making.
Summarize lessons and experiences during research and development.

Concluded from points discussed above, we may find out a fact that to develop a newly-type product is an effortful work, which is fulfilled by a team but not individual. Thus as a supervisor of one of projects, you are not likely to be confronted with many difficulties if you were not in the position.

In a word, qualities of an excellent supervisor contain the ability to be considerate of superiors, full support to help superiors with completion of tasks and most importantly, the sense of responsibility!
