SGB Applied in the Dosing and Mixing of Long Glass-fiber Materials

Share to:
SGB series of Gravimetric Blenders apply to the occasions of plastics injection molding, extrusion molding, or blow molding processes requiring various materials to be dosed and measured accurately as per weight ratio. Diversified materials of different shapes and densities must be weighed and mixed, including granules, flakes, regrind materials, long glass fiber materials, etc. The flakes and regrind materials with poor flowability usually require special metering devices. For long glass fiber materials, due to their particular characteristics, using a conventional discharge valve or similar flake dosing mechanism is unsuitable for processing this material, which is easy to lead to bridging, inaccurate metering, material leaking, etc.

To address the long glass fiber’s discharging problem, foremost, we should understand its characteristics: Firstly, the material is rather long (usually, the length is about 12mm, and the diameter is 3mm); as the poor flowability,   it’s easy to bridge at the SGB’s discharge port; Secondly, it’s tough and has considerable wear and tear on the contacted surface, e.g., on the conveying pipeline, and especially on the pipeline elbow’s corner. Shini has designed a metering valve with this unique material for processing considering these characteristics. It dramatically ensures smooth and accurate discharging of the glass fibers and excellent performance of the equipment.

Besides, it’s not tricky to dose and mix glass fibers automatically, which requires the customization of unique solutions according to relevant parameters, such as material length, diameter, material’s bulk density (KG / L), etc., to ensure accurate dosing.
